The People Behind the Name

Hands For Life is a ministry of the Tim and Janet Straub family, who are joining hands with others to practically impact the community on pro-life issues. It is our desire to encourage others to put feet on the gospel of Christ in word and deed.

Our theme verse is Heb 10:24 'And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works'

Since 1990, our family has been involved with pro-life activities such as life chains and Steps for Life. In the fall of 2008 we were challenged by a friend to go a step further and hold a sign at an abortion clinic. God showed us the hurting and the hopeless who were entering and exiting the clinic. Our hearts were stirred to a deeper level of pro-life activism and evangelism.

On January 22, 2009, we worked together with our friends the Jeremy Bowen family, to bring the movie, Come What May, to Portland. Our hope was to motivate people to a deeper level of pro-life involvement. The event was attended by about 2000 people and 24 pro-life ministries filled the lobby at Rolling Hills Community Church.

Since the Come What May event, many people have been asking “What is the next step? What more can we do?” The Hands for Life workshop is an answer in response to that question. We don’t want to just be angry about abortion, ignore it, wring our hands or yell at people. We want to encourage Christians, young and old, to do practical, loving things to help the preborn and their parents. We want to be the hands of Christ in a hurting and lost world.

We strive to be the fragrance of Christ where ever we go. Our approach is to be caring, winsome and sensitive to people, offering help through resources in our community and sharing the gospel message of Christ in word and deed.

The Straub's are active members of Household of Faith Comminuty Church in Gresham.

Speakers For Hands For Life Workshop

Denny & Claire Hartford are Christian activists in the service to “the least of these”.  They live in Omaha, Nebraska and since the early 1980’s, have helped energize Christ-centered pro-life advocates through their ministry, Vital Signs Ministries
